First things first, the location is ideal and simply cannot be beat. You are right there in the center a stones throw away from pubs, restaurants and shops. (Pro tip: Do not miss the Foundry brewpub for excellent food and drinks!) However, where the hotel truly excels is with their staff. The reception staff also manages breakfast and the bar. Quite a challenge during peak hours, however they more than make do. Whether they are checking you in or making sure you have enough toast for breakfast, they are very friendly and helpful. The same goes for the housekeeping! I was in a deluxe room which is fully carpeted. Not an easy feat to keep clean, however the whole room was absolutely spotless. The room was cleaned daily and more importantly, the biscuits at the coffee and teamaker were also replenished daily! If you’re looking for a friendly and comfortable hotel in Canterbury, look no further. If your budget allows for it, the deluxe rooms are well worth the little bit of extra money. We really enjoyed our stay and I’m pretty sure you would too!

It's a quirky place, a mix of old and new fixtures and fittings, which I really liked. Modern downstairs and older upstairs. Great location. Easy walking distance from the train station and all amenities, such as restaurants, river, parks, museums etc. The staff were friendly, and helpful but not always easy to find. Perhaps they were short staffed when we were there. The room was a good size. We had a family room, where I had the double bed and my friend and her daughter had the adjoining room with two single beds. I had to walk through it to use the bathroom, and the door hinges could've done with a little oil. My bed was comfy, as were theirs, and although the room felt a little chilly with I think single glazing, the duvets were warm enough, without needing an extra blanket. It was quiet. We weren't disturbed by other guests. The food at breakfast was good and enough but not very exciting. There were some games downstairs in a lounge area, which was nice to sit in with kids.

They weren't serving cooked breakfast during my week, but the choice of things was good. There was some building works going on. Room comfortable and quiet, which was surprising as it was next to the theatre. Great location for getting around the area and I travelled to Deal, Ramsgate Whitstable using either trains of buses - all very easy. So much to see in Canterbury and remember to check out what's on at the Marlowe theatre - I saw Sister Act, which wasn't planned!

The pilgrims hotel was a great place to stay in Canterbury in a ideal location for town and the sights as they were only few minutes walk away. The staff were very friendly and nothing was to much trouble. It got very hot in our room at night but we were given a fan which helped alot. The breakfast was very nice with great choice and fresh warm pastries which we loved. We would definitely choose to stay here again.

The hotel was conveniently right in the centre of the City in the old pedestrian quarter, so there was no buzz of traffic, and plenty of places to eat close by. The bedroom was very clean and warm (it was very cold outside) and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was explained in advance that there was no hot breakfast, but the spread of cold offerings was just right for us.
